The concept for the studio came about after years of struggling to find the right environment to get their makeup done and friends regularly asking for beauty advice. Influenced by entrepreneurial parents along with marketing, cosmetics, & retail backgrounds, it was only a matter of time before the sisters made their beauty mark.
The newly founded storefront carries a multitude of brands though such as La Bella Donna, Blinc, and Image Skincare. “[I’ve] personally tried every line we carry,” said Petra, “and [we’re] only offering high-quality products we love and use ourselves.”
When it came to selecting their neighborhood of business, for the two, it was a no-brainer, “Our great-grandparents had a small store on Chestnut Street, and one location of our parents’ company—The Chair Store—was on Union Street,” Petra noted to Hoodline. “We couldn’t imagine opening our first location anywhere else.”
Of course with the looming Sephora, which has a store nearby at 2083 Union Street, the sisters are sure and ready to supply Union street women (and men) a edited selection of only the best products around. “[We] created FaceWest to educate and empower, not to pressure our customers into purchasing products they don’t need,” Petra said.
And at the end of the day, it’s just make-up but what really empowers the sisters is bringing a person’s personality to the forefront, “If someone loves the lipstick we just applied—or can’t get enough of the the eyeshadow that was chosen to make their eyes sparkle—fantastic.”
